Packaging of clinical material and waste disposal

In medical practices, proper packaging of clinical specimens and safe disposal of waste are essential daily tasks. Medical Practice Assistants play a key role in ensuring these tasks are done correctly. By doing so, they not only protect themselves, but also those involved in the transportation and processing of these materials.

Course content:· Understanding risks, typical pathogens, and infection routes of various infectious diseases
· Types of packaging and waste categories
· Securely packing clinical samples
· Proper use of waste bins
· Correct glove usage
· Procedures for handling spills of infectious material
Methods:This course includes brief presentations and practical exercises. Participants’ questions are encouraged and integrated into the training.

Group size:To be agreed on, with a preference for small groups to enhance practical learning.

After this training, your staff will understand the risks associated with various infectious diseases, the typical pathogens, and how they are transmitted. They will be familiar with different types of packaging and waste categories, the proper use of gloves, secure packaging of specimens, and the proper use of waste containers. In addition, they will know the proper procedures to follow in the event of a spill of infectious material.
